Hey, how are you? You want to learn how to make extra income as a student? Let me show you how.
Some of these are what I also did as an undergraduate and it really helped me stop depending on my parents for everything. I’m sure these tips will help you too and you can be financially independent.
Let’s take a look at them….
#1. SELL SOMETHING
Except for any special restrictions by the school authority, I think this is a good way to make money in school. You can get a little money or just save up some cash to start this selling business. Look at the essential needs of your coursemates and hostelmates and help them meet that needs.
It could mean selling wears like shoes, Jean, shirts and handbags for ladies. Or you could sell stationeries like books, jotters and calculators.
Look around you. What do you think your colleagues need so badly but find difficult to get or could not get the quality they desire? That’s an opportunity for you to start selling.
#2. DO PRIVATE TUTORIALS
Yea. Private tutoring is another cool way to make money as a student. I’m sure you don’t have lectures 7 days a week. Right. And I’m sure you’re not always busy from Mondays to Sundays. So, why not spend your idle time to get some little cash into your pockets.
You could talk to your neighbours if they need a private teacher for their kids or search tutoring jobs online. Cool right? Yes, this could help you make some money in school.
#3. WRITE FOR OTHER STUDENTS
I know we have lazy folks almost everywhere and so we have in schools too. But I’m pretty sure you’re not one of them. If you are you won’t be reading this now. So, you can leverage on the laziness of other students and start making your own money, especially from the rich kids in school.
While I was an undergraduate, I helped many of my colleagues write assignments and group presentations, and I was well paid for doing it. You can always take this advantage too. If you see any of your colleagues who are too busy to do their assignments or prepare their presentation notes, offer them your service and get your pay.
#4. HELP OTHERS WRITE THEIR PROJECTS
Another cool way to make some extra money while studying is to help other students write their final year projects. Well, you’ll really have to be smart and intelligent if you have to do this. And you have to be ready to commit your time because it’s definitely going to take your time. You’ll have to read journals and makes findings online. But, it’s really a very nice way to make money in school.
I did this as an undergraduate and I was able to buy a printer and a small generator from the money I realized. That sounds good right? Sure, you can do even more.
#5. START A MICRO BUSINESS CENTRE
An academic environment is majorly characterised by paperworks. You’ve got to type and print assignments, presentations, flyers for campaigns, projects, and whole lots of graphics and design. So, setting up a micro business centre is really going to help you make a lot of money in school.
With just a mobile laserjet printer and a laptop, you’re good to go. Just make sure you get a 3 in 1 printer that can scan, print and photocopy. The printer I bought in school had the three functions. For bigger jobs like posters and billboards, I simply collect the contract, design it on my laptop, copy to my flash and take it to the press to print.
You don’t even need to rent a shop to start this business, you could start right in your hostel. But you’ll have to get a small generator if you live in campus where there’s no electricity.
#6. WORK ONLINE
There are lots and lots of jobs you could do online these days and make real good money from it. Go to latium.org and you can get a lot of jobs there.
#7. DO HOME SERVICE
If you’re into any service business, consider doing home services. If, for instance, you know how to cut or dress hair, you could inform your friends and neighbours to call you whenever they need a haircut or hairdressing.
It may look too minute but you’ll make a lot of money here my dear, especially if you have much friends.
#8. DO A PART-TIME JOB
Getting a part time job is another smart way to make money as a student. You could approach the bank in your campus and offer to get them more customers. By selling their account opening form to your colleagues and bringing more customers to them, you’ll get your commission and, I think that’s cool.
You could also go to secondary schools for part-time teaching or look for ushering jobs around.
#9. WRITE EBOOKS
I’m convinced in my heart that you are a very intelligent person. So, why not try improving your writing skills and start making ebooks for sale. That could fetch you some money you know.
I started writing books since I left high school in 2009 and I’ve been really blessed. I’ve written articles for international magazines, I’ve written contents for blogs and a published book already (I wrote SUCCESS CODE FOR STUDENTS) with many others yet to be published. So you can explore your writing skills too and make some money from it.
#10. COMPETITION
Wait. Have you ever participated in competition? Well, I think you should try doing that. Apart from the cool prizes, competition also widens your scope of knowledge.
I participated in competition once as an undergraduate and I won the runner-up prize for the writing competition across the four campuses my school operates. It came with some cash benefits anyway and that really helped me sustain for some time in school. Always take advantage of competitions. Say no to fear. You can do it.
